These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mentor.lk (the "Platform"), operated by Petals Creative Services (Pvt) Ltd ("Mentor.lk", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Sri Lanka with its registered address at 22, Macleod Road, Colombo 04, Sri Lanka. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Mentor.lk.

1. Who can use Mentor.lk

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use Mentor.lk directly in your own name.

If you are under 16, you may not register for an account yourself. A parent or legal guardian must create and manage the account on your behalf. By registering an account for a minor, the parent or guardian confirms that they are the minor's parent or legal guardian, consents to the minor's use of the Platform under that account, and accepts full responsibility for all activity on the account, including any purchases, course enrolments, and interactions with instructors or other users. Mentor.lk does not knowingly allow minors under 16 to register or hold an account directly.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know immediately at info@mentor.lk if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You agree to provide accurate, current information when registering and to keep it up to date.

3. Instructors and mentors

Mentor.lk is open to individual professionals and organisations alike — from independent mentors teaching a single course to corporates delivering structured training at scale. Instructors are responsible for the accuracy, quality, and legality of the content they publish, and for holding any rights needed to publish and sell that content. Instructor plans, applicable fees, commission arrangements, and platform capabilities are described on our Plans page and may be updated from time to time; changes will be communicated to affected instructors in advance where reasonably possible.

4. Courses, purchases, and payment

Course prices are shown at the time of purchase in the currency displayed on the Platform. Payments are processed through our payment partner, PayHere, a Central Bank of Sri Lanka approved, PCI DSS compliant payment gateway; Mentor.lk does not store your full card details. By making a purchase you authorise the applicable charge to your chosen payment method. Course pricing may change over time, but changes do not affect courses you've already purchased. Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

5. Live classes and recordings

Some courses include live sessions delivered via Zoom or Jitsi, and may be recorded for enrolled students' later reference. By joining a live session you consent to being recorded where the instructor has recording enabled. Recording availability and storage are subject to the instructor's plan and Mentor.lk's technical policies, and Mentor.lk does not guarantee that any given recording will be permanently available.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Mentor.lk to upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content; harass or misrepresent yourself to other users; attempt to bypass platform security or access controls; or use the Platform for any purpose other than legitimate teaching, learning, and professional growth. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

Instructors retain ownership of the course content they create and upload, and grant Mentor.lk a licence to host, deliver, and display that content to enrolled students as part of operating the Platform. The Mentor.lk name, branding, and platform software remain the property of Petals Creative Services (Pvt) Ltd.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Mentor.lk provides the Platform on an "as is" basis. We don't guarantee that courses will meet every learner's expectations, that the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that outcomes claimed by individual instructors will be achieved. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mentor.lk's liability for any claim arising from your use of the Platform is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant course or service in the twelve months before the claim arose.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Platform or applicable law. We'll post the updated Terms here with a new "Last updated" date; continuing to use Mentor.lk after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.

This Privacy Policy explains how Mentor.lk, operated by Petals Creative Services (Pvt) Ltd ("Mentor.lk", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our platform.

1. Information we collect

Account information: name, username, email address, mobile number, and profile details you provide when registering or completing your profile.
Payment information: when you make a purchase, payment is processed by our payment partner, PayHere. We receive confirmation that a payment was made and basic transaction details, but we do not receive or store your full card number or card security code — that's handled entirely within PayHere's secure, PCI DSS compliant systems.
Course and activity data: courses you enrol in or teach, lesson progress, quiz and assignment submissions, live class attendance, and content you post (comments, discussions, group activity).
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies used to keep you logged in and to understand how the Platform is used.

2. Children's information

Mentor.lk does not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 16. Where a minor uses the Platform, their account is registered and managed by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and for consenting to its collection and use as described in this Policy. If you believe a minor has registered an account directly without guardian involvement, please contact us at info@mentor.lk and we will investigate.

To create and manage your account, and to deliver the courses, live classes, and features you use
To process payments and payouts, and to prevent fraud
To communicate with you about your account, courses, bookings, and platform updates
To improve the Platform and understand how it's being used
To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including those connected to payment processing

4. Who we share information with

We share information only where necessary to operate the Platform:

PayHere — to process your payments securely
Zoom / Jitsi — to deliver live classes you join
Cloud storage and hosting providers — to host the Platform and store course content and recordings
Instructors — instructors can see the enrolment, progress, and activity of students enrolled in their own courses

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Platform may not work correctly if cookies are disabled.

6. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure hosting and encrypted payment processing through PayHere's PCI DSS compliant, Central Bank approved infrastructure. No online platform can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

7. Your rights

You can access and update most of your account information directly from your Mentor.lk dashboard. You may also contact us at info@mentor.lk to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request that your account and associated personal data be deleted, subject to any records we're required to keep for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.

8. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after that where needed to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or comply with legal obligations (including payment and tax record-keeping requirements).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date.
