This guide walks through the core things you’ll do on Mentor.lk, with real screenshots from the platform. It’s split into a section for students and a section for instructors — jump to whichever applies to you.
Getting Started
The Mentor.lk homepage is your hub once you’re logged in — trending courses on the left, activity from people and groups you follow in the middle, and quick links to Groups, Forums, Courses, and Jobs along the top.

To create an account: click Register in the footer, or go directly to mentor.lk/register. Fill in your email, password, name, and mobile number (mobile number is required — it’s how instructors and support reach you about bookings). If you’re under 16, a parent or guardian needs to register on your behalf — see our Terms of Service.
For Students
1. Browse and find a course
Open Courses from the top menu. Use the filters on the left — Category (organised by subject area, with sub-categories you can expand) and Tag (Grades, Languages, Syllabus) — to narrow down to exactly what you’re looking for.

2. Enrol in a course
Open any course to see its full description, what you’ll learn, and its price. Click Start Learning (free courses) or complete checkout via PayHere (paid courses). Your progress is tracked automatically — the panel on the right shows exactly how far through the course you are.

3. Your dashboard
Your dashboard (accessible from Training Dashboard in the sidebar, or your profile menu) is where everything about your learning lives: Enrolled Courses, Quiz Attempts, Wishlist, Order History, and more.

4. Join a live class
If a course includes live sessions, upcoming ones show on your dashboard and on the course page. Click through at the scheduled time to join via Zoom or Jitsi — no separate account or app installation is required. If the instructor recorded the session, it’ll appear on the course page afterward for you to review any time.
For Instructors & Mentors
1. Apply to become an instructor
Go to Instructor Registration. You’ll fill in your teaching background — subjects, grades/levels, curriculums, years of experience, languages you teach in, and a short bio — and pick a starting plan (Free is fine to begin with; you can upgrade any time). Submit, and you’ll get a confirmation once your application is reviewed.
2. Create a course
From your dashboard, click New Course. The course builder has three steps — Basics, Curriculum, and Additional — and autosaves as you go.

In the Basics step’s sidebar, set the course’s Categories (subject area) and Tags. Tags are grouped for you — tick the Grade(s), Language(s), and Syllabus your course applies to, or type to search. This is what powers the filters students use to find your course, so it’s worth getting right.

Once you’re happy with everything, click Publish (or Save as Draft to come back to it later).
3. Schedule a live class
Open Room Booking in your dashboard sidebar. Your current plan’s remaining hours (peak, off-peak, and Jitsi) are shown at the top. Click, or click-and-drag, a time slot on the calendar to book — a room is assigned automatically, so there’s nothing to pick.

4. Manage your bookings
Open Live Sessions to see everything you have coming up. Double-click a booking to view its details, start the class when it’s time, or cancel it if plans change (cancellations made with enough notice are eligible for an hours credit — see the Refund Policy).

5. Manage your plan
Visit Plans any time to see your current plan, how much of your monthly hours you’ve used, and what the other tiers include. Upgrading takes you straight to secure checkout — no need to contact support.
