For Students
How do I create an account?
Click Register in the footer, or go straight to the registration page. You’ll need a valid email address and mobile number — we ask for your mobile number so instructors and support can reach you about your bookings and courses.
I’m under 16 — can I sign up myself?
No. If you’re under 16, a parent or legal guardian needs to create and manage the account on your behalf. See our Terms of Service for details.
How do I enrol in a course?
Browse or search Courses, open the one you want, and click Enroll (free courses) or complete checkout (paid courses). Once enrolled, the course appears under Enrolled Courses in your dashboard.
How do I pay for a course?
Payments are processed securely through PayHere — Visa, MasterCard, and other local payment methods are supported. Mentor.lk never sees or stores your full card details.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within certain conditions — see our full Refund Policy. In short: courses are refundable within 7 days if you’ve completed less than 20% of the content.
How do I join a live class?
Live classes run through Zoom or Jitsi, depending on the course. When a session is coming up, you’ll see it on your dashboard and can join directly from there or from the course page — no separate Zoom account needed.
Will my live classes be recorded?
If the instructor has enabled recording for that session, yes — recordings appear on the course page afterward for enrolled students to review.
How do I get a certificate?
Complete all lessons in a course to mark it as finished; if the course has a certificate enabled, you can download it from your dashboard once complete.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use the Forgot Password? link on the login page to reset it by email.
For Instructors & Mentors
How do I become an instructor?
Apply through Instructor Registration. Tell us your teaching background, subjects, and experience, choose a plan (Free to start, upgradeable anytime), and submit — most applications are reviewed quickly.
What are the instructor plans, and what do they include?
Mentor.lk offers Free, Starter, Professional, and Enterprise plans, each with a different monthly allowance of Zoom/Jitsi hours, AI document-conversion credits, and recording storage. See the full breakdown and pricing on our Plans page.
How do I upgrade my plan later?
Visit the Plans page any time — it shows your current plan and lets you upgrade instantly via secure checkout.
What if I run out of hours mid-month?
You can buy additional peak, off-peak, or recording hours any time from Top Up Packages in your dashboard sidebar — these top up your existing plan and are valid for a year from purchase.
How do I create a course?
From your dashboard, click New Course. The course builder walks you through the basics (title, description, pricing), curriculum (lessons, quizzes, assignments), and additional details (categories, tags, requirements).
How do I tag my course correctly?
In the course builder’s Basics step, use the Tags panel to tick the grade level(s), language(s), and syllabus your course covers — this is what helps students filter and find your course in search.
How do I schedule a live class?
Go to Room Booking in your dashboard sidebar, and click or drag a time slot on the calendar. A Zoom (or Jitsi) room is assigned automatically — there’s nothing else to configure.
What’s the difference between Zoom and Jitsi?
Both let you run live classes. Zoom is the more full-featured option and draws from your plan’s peak/off-peak hours; Jitsi is a lightweight browser-based alternative that draws from a separate Jitsi hours allowance. Your plan includes a monthly allowance of each.
How do I manage or cancel a booking?
Open Live Sessions in your dashboard to see all upcoming bookings, start a class early, or cancel — cancellations made with enough notice are eligible for an hours credit per our Refund Policy.
How do instructor earnings and commission work?
Instructors earn from paid course sales under a commission arrangement set at the platform level. For the specifics that apply to your account, check your dashboard or contact us directly at info@mentor.lk.
What’s the AI Document Converter?
It turns a document (like a lesson plan or notes file) into ready-to-use course content and quiz questions automatically — found under AI Doc. Converter in your dashboard sidebar. Each plan includes a monthly number of conversions.
How long are my recordings stored?
Recording storage is included as part of your plan (and can be extended with a top-up). Check My Recordings in your dashboard for what’s currently stored and how much space you’re using.

Browsing and signing up are free. Individual courses may be free or paid depending on the instructor; instructor plans range from a Free tier up to paid tiers with more capacity — see Plans.
